Heavenly Hell
Release Date: 04/24/13

Summary from Goodreads:
You'd think being stuck in the body of a beautiful seventeen year old girl forever would be a gift. But when you are fallen, it is more like a curse.

Indiana was a beautiful angel, enjoying the perks of Heaven, until she was tricked by a demon to fall in love with him. She was forced to fall from Heaven and remain in her seventeen year old form, banished to Earth, for all of eternity.

Now, unable to cope with her banishment, she is a seemingly normal seventeen year old girl by day, while she spends her nights punishing men for the wrongs they have committed against women.

Although Indiana has lived on Earth for thousands of years, she recently settled into a small town, where she has finally been able to make some lasting friendships. When a handsome, mysterious boy comes to town, Indiana knows something is not right. He might end up her ally, or she might end up in the fight of her life.

My Review!
Rating: 3 stars!

I thought Heavenly Hell was an enjoyable read. I love books about fallen angels, so when I read the synopsis, I was like I want this. The beginning was a fantastic start. I mean, who doesn't love a kickass heroine beating the shit out of some guy?  I kid you not, that is how the story begins. (He totally deserved it, by the way)

Indiana is a fierce character. That's the best word to describe her personality: fierce. Ever since her fall from Heaven, she's been using her skills for one thing only: punishing weak men. The men who abuse and have zero respect for women. Her and her friend, A.J. (the angel, Israfel) have a private investigating business, and Indiana likes to take on the more aggressive cases, the men who treat women like bugs under their shoes. Her past haunts her, and since her fall, she's been determined to save the people who can't stand up for themselves and punish the evil. It's an act that warrants suspicion and makes her think twice about how she's handling everything.

But for the first time in her life, Indiana has friends. She's let herself open up while playing the normal 17 year old girl at school. I really liked all of the characters. Vanessa and Connor are her best friends, yet they are all part of a group of friends who just enjoy being around each other. They like to party but also hang out, watching movies and eating junk food. It's like a normal high school story-line. She just kicks men's butts in her spare time and is really a fallen angel. No big deal. At first it didn't seem believable to me that Indiana could scare the ever-living daylights out of these buff, muscled bad-tempered physical abusers (holy adjectives). But then I found out that she's Amaliel, the Angel of Weakness, and it made so much more sense!

There were a few details about the story that had me confused, especially with Nate. I still don't understand what he is or why he was going after Indiana. His background story wasn't very detailed, so I had a hard time connecting with him even though part of the book was in his POV. There wasn't much background to Indiana's story either, and I'm hoping to learn more about her in Heavenly Hunted. :)

This story didn't center on romance; in fact, there was literally no romance. I think, had it had some type of love story, it might have made me like it a little better. Don't get me wrong, it was a good story. But there was very little in the way of plot; most of it is Indiana and her friends hanging out, Nate stalking her, and her finding out what he is and that he's been sent to kill her. It was back and forth with the two of them taunting, teasing, and trying to one-up the other. The synopsis is a little misleading, as Indiana wasn't in a fight for her life, because Nate never actually tried to kill her. When he finds out she's really an angel and not a demon, he backs off. But his boss doesn't care, and he wants her dead. In the second book, I think we'll be seeing Nate and Indiana helping each other.

With fallen angels, likable supporting characters, and a hunter dead-set on taking down demons, Heavenly Hell gives its readers a nice glimpse into the world of the fallen and the ones who want to destroy them. :)
