October 2014 Releases

I'm just gonna jump right into this. There are way too many books coming out this month that I want and need in my life. Lo and behold, probably the best month for new releases!

October 2nd

October 7th

October 8th

October 9th

October 14th

October 21st

October 23rd

October 27th

October 28th

I've read quite a few of these already! Sweet Unrest, Burying Water, and Queen of Someday. Loved KA's new one! But the other two were SO disappointing. I also have quite a few that I could read this month. Compulsion (which I started and stopped because it wasn't hooking me), Stitching Snow (which I'm actually going to start tonight--I'm in the mood for a fantasy), Lailah (which I'm currently reading but am not enjoying), Of Scars and Stardust, Damsel Distressed, and Loop (which I wasn't aware that came out in October). So yeah, I should probably read all of these, but I'm taking a bit of a break with ARCs and review copies, so I won't get all of them done by their pub dates. And I'm okay with that. I changed my review policy for a reason, and this is exactly why.

My most highly anticipated release: Boy, it's hard to choose just one from this list, but it's definitely Blue Lily, Lily Blue (SHOCKER!). I've pretty much given up hope on getting an approval from Scholastic, so I guess I'll be waiting for my pre-order to come in the mail like all the other peasants.

So, what October releases are YOU excited about?!

  1. Is it just me or is October wickedly beautiful in the cover department?!! I'm just IN LOVE with so many of these covers! Stitching Snow! Lily Blue! Kiss Kill Vanish! Snow Like Ashes! *hugs all the books*
I'm seriously excited for Lily Blue Blue Lily and TALON! (Dragons. Huzzah!) I haven't even read one thing from October yet. :( I'm still catching up on September.

    1. Not just you! So many of those covers are super GORGEOUS!!! Yay for Lily Blue and Talon (I hope we get fire-breathing dragons)!! Dude, I've stopped trying to catch up. I'm just reading what I want to right now and IT IS FABULOUS. :)

  2. I thought Snow Like Ashes already came out???? It's been around the blogosphere for a while now hahah! ALSO CLARIEL (Abhorsen prequel) IS COMING OUT ON THE 14TH!!! I haven't even read the 3rd book (Abhorsen) and I'm excited.

Ok ok for books actually on this list, I am excited for Talon, but I've heard mixed things about it. But other than that, there's nothing else I'm super interested in!

    1. I was seriously thinking about Snow Like Ashes! ARE YOU SURE?! Because Goodreads told me it comes out on October 14th, and GR never lies. Usually. (I'M SO CONFUSED!!!)

Also. I've heard the same about Talon, though I hope I'm one of the people who loves it. I love Julie Kagawa's books. :)

    2. I think it's because so many people got ARCs of it, that the hype has already died down for it HAHAH

    3. That might be why (I'm so jealous of those people who go to read it early), because it's definitely still on pre-order!

  3. So many great books will be out this month! I don't even know where to start haha.
I'll need to buy The Fall immediately but put it aside until Halloween because I hard it's totally creepy and dark. I'm so excited for Burying Water, I love K. A. Tucker's book in general and that blurb sounds wonderful. Aww I can't freaking wait for This Night So Dark, I miss Tarvel and Lilac so much and I'm looking forward to read the beginning of This Shattered World.
I heard some great things about Queen of Someday and I really can't wait to finally get my hands on it. I heard a lot of bad things about Sweet Unrest but I'm still hopeful, the synopsis sounds incredible. They All Fall Down is probably one of my most waited books, I'm a bit sad because of the bad rating on Goodreads but whatever I'm still going to get that book right after the release.
Aww, Blue Lily, Lily Blue... Do I have to say more?
Loop has one of the worst covers ever but the blurb sounds sooo amazing. Compulsion is on my TBR list as well.
Love how you always make these lists about upcoming releases, great chance for me to see what to expect this month. :)

    1. I totally made my own spooky reading list, and I might just have to add The Fall (though I don't own it, which is a huge factor in my Halloween TBR as I have put myself on a book buying ban). I can't wait for you to read Burying Water; it was so freaking amazing, as are all of KA's books (my review will be up this week). And right? I want MORE of Tarver and Lilac and this beautiful yet dangerous world that those two authors created.

I hope you like Queen of Someday much more than I did! And I did like Sweet Unrest, though it was predictable and disappointing (still think it's worth the read).

And no, you don't have to say more about BLLB. I totes understand. :)

And yay, I'm so glad you like these monthly posts! It's so great for me, because I don't forget about any of the ones I'm excited about (which happens more often than not)! :)

  4. Ugh, I think the list of books I *haven't* pre-ordered might be shorter than those I have! Snow Like Ashes is definitely October 14, because I keep trying to decide if I need to order it, even though I already have Undivided coming that day!

And of course, In the Afterlight is a must-have. I ordered Atlantia just because it was cheap. How ridiculous, no? Then, I read an excerpt from Young Elites, and now I need it too. And Lailah for sure. And The Fall. And Of Scars and Stardust. And Loop. Actually, can I just have them all? Seriously, what is up with this month?! And I swear, November just gets worse!

I am reading The 52nd right now though and enjoying it! There are kind of a lot of characters right now, and that is confusing me a bt. I am bummed that you aren't loving Lailah though :( I hope it gets better!

    1. I've pre-ordered quite a few! And totally just realized that I didn't add one of those books to this list. Whoops. Will remedy that immediately.

I haven't even read The Darkest Minds yet, what is wrong with me? And I WANT THEM ALL TOO!!

I'm so excited about The 52nd, and I might actually DNF Lailah but I want to give it a second chance. :)

  5. I totally forgot Loop was out this month! I need to make sure it's on my October TBR. :) I'm really excited to read that, The 52nd, Snow Like Ashes, Exquisite Captive, The Fall and Sweet Unrest. I'm sorta excited for Blue Lily, Lily Blue, but I haven't even read The Dream Thieves yet (and probably won't be able to fit it in for awhile).

I'm starting to become okay with the fact that I won't finish all my review copies before the publication dates either. I don't want to stress myself out so much that I still have a bunch of September releases to get to. It would just make it tough for me to get in the mood to read them.

    1. You need to make room for The Dream Thieves!!! And I'm just so over stressing myself out about review copies and publication dates. It's not worth the anxiety. I also find it tough to get in the mood to read ARCs, especially when I don't really want to. And I really hope you find that balance, because it's just not fun to read when it feels like a chore. :)

  6. WOW there are so many awesome reads that are coming out this month, Snow Like Ashes, They All Fall Down, TALON, Stitching Snow! I will need to catch up with the Raven Boys series though, I still haven't read it yet! I think I'm going to take it easy though and not pressure myself to read all these new releases in the same month :) Thanks for the rundown lovely!

    1. AHHH. YOU HAVE TO READ THE RAVEN BOYS JEANN!!! So, so good. Also, taking it easy sounds wonderful and relaxing, which is what reading should be. Besides, there is just not enough time to read everything before their pub dates. And you're welcome!! :)

Comments always make me smile. :) Seriously. Even if you comment on the post weeks or months later, it makes my day! So don't hesitate to leave your thoughts even if it's been a long time since the post was published. I'll try to reply to you, especially if you ask a question, but sometimes life happens. But I do read and appreciate every single one of them because I know how hard it can be to find the time or energy to comment. So a heartfelt THANK YOU for brightening my day when you do. <3
