25 Days of Book Boyfriends: GANSEY! (+Giveaway)

I'm so excited to be participating in this awesome event, hosted by the lovely bloggers above! I read so many books in a year, and new book boyfriends are always added to my favorites list. But this book boyfriend of mine has been on it since I read the first book in The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater back in 2013. And his name is GANSEYYYYY.

Richard (Dick) Campbell Gansey III, or more preferably and affectionately known as GANSEY, is intelligent, confident, cultured, and impressionable. He's a leader, the magnet that people gravitate toward because they can't help but be drawn in by his charismatic personality. He grew up in a life of privilege, and that shows. He's rich and popular, but he doesn't like to be defined by that. He just wants to be seen for who he is and not what he has

And not only is he strong in character, but he's so caring and sweet. He would do anything for his friends. Even when they're pissed at him, and he's not sure what to do or what to say to make it better. "But Gansey’s words had somehow become unwitting weapons, and he didn’t trust himself to not accidentally discharge them again." Sometimes his words are exactly what's gotten him in trouble before, especially with Blue and their first meeting. It still makes me laugh! But he tries so hard to be more conscious of things, especially when it comes to the people he cares about (ADAM). And he's usually so put together, but he's starting to unravel a little bit. I think his real self is shining more and more as the books go on. And I sure do love the real Gansey. The charismatic, foot-in-the-mouth privileged boy who seems to be searching for something he's not even sure about. He has faith and courage and heart. He is brave and honest and loyal and good. He is Gansey.
***

The 5 things I associate with Gansey:

1. Blue/Jane. I could possibly have been biased when starting the first book, because I'd already had the mindset that Blue and Gansey were soulmates. But their relationship didn't really turn shippy until the second book. (I think, though it's been awhile since I've read them). However, I loved them from the beginning when they got off on the wrong foot because Gansey sometimes doesn't understand how his words come across to other people. Their relationship started out rocky and full of misunderstanding. But once they got to know each other, it became so goddamn adorable and sweet and beautiful AND I JUST NEED ONE KISS OKAY. JUST ONE.

And another one because ASDFJKL;

2. Adam, Noah, Ronan. His relationship with his three best friends is just the most precious thing in the world. Sure, they fight and argue and piss each other off. What friends don't? But they're THERE for each other. They have each other's backs. They laugh and tease and look out for one another. They are fiercely loyal and protective. Their bromance is just plain awesome.

A pretty grrrrreat likeness (except maybe Gansey & Adam need to be switched around?):

3. Glendower. His mission. His obsession. His destiny.
“Listening to him tell the story now, it was clear to Adam that Glendower was more than a historical figure to Gansey. He was everything Gansey wished he could be: wise and brave, sure of his path, touched by the supernatural, respected by all, survived by his legacy.”
4. His Camaro, the Pig. Here's the thing, Gansey could afford any kind of car he wants, but he loves his camaro. The big, ugly orange car that is constantly having issues and breaking down (sounds a hell of a lot like my car, Paco). And if you want a ride, you'd better not insult it.

5. Mint leaves. I will forever associate Gansey with mint leaves. And if you've read Blue Lily, Lily Blue, you'll understand why I'm so ASDFJKL; about mint leaves right now. Thinking about that scene still makes all ASDFJKL; MY FEELS.

(Some of) my favorite quotes!

"I wish you could be kissed, Jane. Because I would beg just one off you. Under all this."

I'm glad you misdialed."
"Well. Easy mistake to make," she said. "Might do it again." A very, very long pause. She opened her mouth to fill it, then changed her mind and didn't. She was shivering again, even though she wasn't cold with the pillow on her legs.
"Shouldn't," Gansey said finally. "But I hope you do.”

"Maybe it wouldn't hurt if I kiss you. Maybe it's only if you kiss me."

GANSEY! <3
And no, I don't have a good picture for you. I mean honestly, who would even come close to looking like Gansey? It's pretty impossible for me to get clear images of characters in my head. When I'm reading, they always just melt into the background and have fuzzy edges. So I never put a face to them and I honestly don't know who could make a great Gansey. To me, he's just Gansey. <3

And because it's Christmas, I'm in a happy mood, and I love Gansey so much, I'm giving away a paperback copy of either The Raven Boys, The Dream Thieves, or Blue Lily, Lily Blue! :)

    1. My feelings for Adam have definitely changed since the first book, which is to say in a GOOD way. He has a lot more character development in BLLB, so you get to see other sides to him. And he's growing so much. I adore him too. :)

  4. I should give this series a shot! I wasn't a huge fan of some of Maggie's other books, so I hesitated with these, but everyone seems to love them! And now I'm super interested in meeting Gansey and these other boys too! Thank you so much for participating in the tour this year!

    1. You should! But I'll be the first to admit that Maggie's books aren't for everyone, especially with her writing style. I know lots of a people who don't like it and can't connect to the characters and story because of it. But I do hope you give it a shot!

Thank YOU for organizing this event and for letting me participate! I had so much fun creating this post. :)

BUT THEN AGAIN I HAVEN'T READ THE THIRD BOOK YET. And the reason is just because I have a lot of books to read, BUT IT WILL BE READ

Comments always make me smile. :) Seriously. Even if you comment on the post weeks or months later, it makes my day! So don't hesitate to leave your thoughts even if it's been a long time since the post was published. I'll try to reply to you, especially if you ask a question, but sometimes life happens.
