July Recap, August News

So, I didn't have time to do this post yesterday. My cousin got back from working in Georgia for 7 months, and I just wanted to hang out with her. We did a lot of thrift, Goodwill, and book shopping the last two days. And she was totally awesome to let me finish City of Glass for my July Challenge in the David Estes Fans and YA Book Lovers Unite group on Goodreads. It was just a fun, silly challenge, but I'm no quitter. I had to finish that one before July ended. I'm not taking part in another challenge this month, but I do have my NetGalley one to keep up with. So far, I've read 3 Galleys. I'm doing good with that one. :)

I also didn't post a Swoon Thursday this week. Shocker, I know. But with Rachel being home, and doing my first giveaway, I didn't have time for anymore posts. And this one is late! Ugh, I don't have OCD, but I hate it when my patterns are changed. I usually post this monthly recap on the last day of that month, but not this time! And yes, it's weirding me out. (It totally broke my routine).

Guys, I have my very first giveaway going on! I reached 100 followers in July, and I wanted to show my appreciation for all that you lovely followers do for me, so what better way to do that than a giveaway?
Click HERE to win a paperback of That Night on Thistle Lane!

I would LOVE for tons of people to enter! So, go ahead, enter to your heart's content. There are at least 9 entries you can earn. :)

It's not much, I know. What I can offer for giveaways right now are paperback or hardcover books that I either don't want or need. So, why not give them away? Otherwise, they'd just go to Goodwills. It's US only, so I'm sad my international followers can't enter. But I hope the winner will appreciate the book!

Anyway, so here's the late post!

July Recap:
Pretty much all I did this July was read. And blog. And watch CSI: NY (they finally put it on Netflix!). Other than the 4th of July, a shopping trip with my roommates, and applying for on-campus jobs, it's been pretty boring. And I'm so over it. I really can't wait to get back to CMU, move in with my friends, and start sophomore year. :)

I've read a lot of books! I'm now 36 books behind schedule on my Goodreads challenge (which is good, because it was originally 42 books behind). I didn't read as much as I'd hoped, so I'm going to make up for it in August. Like I said, I'm no quitter. I'll finish my 2013 challenge of 200 books. Even if I have to forgo all fun activities (just kidding, it won't be that extreme). I also have quite a few review request books to finish, as well as a few blog tour books to review. So, we'll see how well all of this turns out at the end of August, when I'll make another monthly recap post!

Some of my reviews this month:

So, in my last monthly recap post I said I was going to do monthly polls. Well, July's poll was Do you prefer paperbacks or hardcovers? Here's the tally:

I love both equally

I prefer e-books

It seems that most people don't care if the book is hardcover or paperback. Thanks everyone who voted! Last time I had a poll, no one voted, so I enjoyed the answers. :P

August News:
Now I'm doing a lot of cover reveals, book blitzs, release day events. I participated in my first blog tour on July 28th! I am currently scheduled for three more blog tours in August. I'm not going to be doing much once my sophomore year starts up, at least within those first three weeks of classes. I don't know if it'll be an easy or hard semester, so I'm not going to be doing much, especially with accepting reviews (I have so many to do right now).

  • August 4th - Never Say Never/Never Too Late series blog tour. I'm posting my review and I also have an exclusive author interview! C.M. answered all of my questions, and gave me a little teaser to share for book 2 of the Never Too Late series, Never Let Go. :)
  • August 16th - Rock Hard Roots series by C.M. Stunich Blog Tour.
  • August 18th - Released by Mia Fox Blog Tour
I've also got quite a few cover reveals, book blitzs, and release day events going on. It's been a good summer for me in terms of blogging. :)

August releases I'm excited for!
  • Bring Me Home (Shattered Hearts, #3) by Cassia Leo. I can't wait to see how she ends this wonderful series! I ship Chris and Claire, y'all.
  • Torch (Take It Off, #1) by Cambria Hebert.
  • Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (Between, #1) by  April Genevieve Tucholke. THIS BOOK. I WANT IT!
  • A Tale of Two Centuries (My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, #2) by Rachel Harris. I haven't read the first one yet, but it's Rachel Harris, so I just know I'm going to love it. :)
I swear to God, there are so many more books coming out this month that I want to read. For the life of me, I can't remember them all! (This always happens).

August Poll!

Do you prefer books in 1st person POV or 3rd person POV? Why?

As an aspiring writer, I'm really curious about this bookish question! I write in 3rd person POV in all my books, but lately I've been thinking about putting one of them in 1st person. That would be my contemporary romance. I don't know, but it just seems like 1st person would work best for that genre. As it stands, I really love 3rd person narratives more. I don't know why, though. (I'm weird that way, I guess).

So, anyway, this poll is on the right side-bar of my blog and will run until the end of August. :)

So, I think that's it! Remember to check out my 100 Followers Giveaway and enter! Also, check out some of my reviews. :)

I can't wait for another month filled with the awesomeness that comes with blogging!

Comments always make me smile. :) Seriously. Even if you comment on the post weeks or months later, it makes my day! So don't hesitate to leave your thoughts even if it's been a long time since the post was published. I'll try to reply to you, especially if you ask a question, but sometimes life happens. But I do read and appreciate every single one of them because I know how hard it can be to find the time or energy to comment. So a heartfelt THANK YOU for brightening my day when you do. <3
